Unlock All the Content

Want to experience the internet without borders? Let us be your guide.

If there is content that you want to unblock, BlufVPN is here for you. When you use our VPN servers to get online, you’re free to connect to over 60 countries across the world, and we’re pretty sure we’ll have one in whichever country it is you need to unlock content you’re trying to enjoy.

Maybe you pay for a certain streaming service, but when you go on holiday you find that it’s not available? Or you’re about to sit down to watch the sporting event of the season, only to find no broadcaster in your country is showing it. These situations are as frustrating as they are simple to fix.

Your content, anywhere you want it

We think it’s only fair that if you pay for something, you should be able to use it. Unfortunately, because they like to chop the world up into different regions to maximise their income, TV, film and streaming executives don’t agree.

1

If you want to unlock internet content, a VPN service allows you to play the bosses at their own game. You can connect to a server pretty much anywhere in the world, which makes it easy for you to be where they want you to be, and means you can watch what you want to watch.

2

It’s also the perfect way to stop yourself from needing to worry about firewalls. For example, if you’re at a school or college where certain streaming sites are blocked by their firewall, using a VPN you can very quickly be in Serbia instead of school. Or Canada instead of college. If the firewall doesn’t recognise where or who you are, it can’t stop you from accessing the content you want to access, meaning you’re free to explore the digital world.

3

It also means that country specific live TV is accessible from wherever you are, so if you work abroad but really miss the reassuring sound of your favourite news channel from back home, using a VPN you can just watch it live through your device like you would in your own bed or on your sofa.

4

Because we think you deserve value and flexibility, one Bluf account gives you VPN access on up to 5 devices. So maybe you like using your phone to watch in bed but your desktop computer to game, or your laptop for sport while you’re cooking. It’s all protected and free to access a borderless internet with a single BlufVPN login.

Teezy tip

Don’t mess around with the illegal streamers - go straight to the source. In four steps you can top to connect to your home country from wherever you are and watch your favourite show or sport without worrying about spending hours trying to find a reliable stream or closing popups.

Sports fan? VPN fan.

If you’re a huge fan of a particular sports team or just like the game in general, having a VPN you can rely on means you can always enjoy the sport you love, wherever you might be.

1

Imagine you were a Manchester City fan, and in 2012 you were on holiday for the summer watching the game from your sun lounger. As Aguero ran through on goal in the final moments of the season, your dodgy stream started buffering and failed. You would have missed one of the greatest football moments of all time.

2

Had you been using a VPN to just watch the game through your normal service provider by connecting to a server in your home country, you never would have missed your Agueroooooo moment.

3

By connecting to official sports streams even when you’re abroad, you’re also helping to ensure that your club get the advertising revenues and sponsorship money they need from these kinds of services to help with financing their facilities, playing staff and coaches. So by using a VPN you are being a better fan.

4

If you’ve never noticed before, those “free sports stream” sites come with a price and it’s usually one you don’t want to pay. Because they exist in a legal grey area, the sponsors and advertisers willing to interact with them tend to be at the naughty end of the spectrum, so by using illegal streaming sites you can often find that your device is infected with malware or spyware.

5

When you’re watching sport, if you care about quality a VPN is also a great solution. Inevitably illegal streams are never the most reliable and they’re rarely full HD - by connecting to an official service using a VPN server which puts you in the country you need to be in, you can be sure you’ll at least be watching players not pixels.

Full stream ahead

If you pay for a service, you should be able to use it wherever you might be in the world. A VPN is the smartest way to access the content you want, without having to worry about geographical restrictions set by countries on what you can access, called “Geo Blocking”.

Because a VPN hides your IP address by simply swapping it with the IP address of the VPN server you connect with, websites which you use will only see the VPN server’s IP, not your real one. Your true location will be secret, hidden behind a wall of dynamic encryption.

Watch your content, wherever you are

You can be wherever in the world you need to be to watch whatever you need to watch, just by connecting to a VPN server in the correct country.

For example, you can stream your favourite shows securely and privately even when you are on holiday - just choose a server in your home country to connect with. With more than 400 servers globally, we know you’ll be able to find the right one to suit your needs.

Even if you want to binge watch sports like football, basketball, tennis or baseball, it doesn’t matter, no one can take away your right to your favourite content with geo blocking and licensing restrictions. We believe that if you pay for a subscription or service, you should be able to use it, no matter where in the world you are.

What is geoblocking?

It is very normal for content producers and streaming services to limit the availability of content based on where you are trying to access it from, for reasons related to copyright, licensing and cost.

Movie producers, for example, make different deals in different regions of the world which allow them to make the most money they can by selling their film into different “territories”.

What this means for you when you try to stream a movie on holiday, is sometimes that you cannot access content you pay for, because the licensing restrictions on that film are different in another country to what they are when you are at home.

Content providers like Netflix and broadcasters like the BBC also categorize the world into these “territories” to create multiple markets for themselves, allowing them to sell the same content again and again, but stopping you from streaming whatever content you want, wherever you are.

This means that with some licensing restrictions based on location from content providers, and some more from content makers, the reasons why certain pieces of content can be watched here, but not there, can be very complicated. With a VPN, you don’t need to worry about any of that.

How does geo blocking work?

Whenever you access a website, that site has access to your IP address. That is how information is shared between the two. Without using a VPN, your IP address is assigned by your ISP and gives your connection a physical address in the world.

This means that when you log onto BBC’s iPlayer service from the USA, it won’t work. All of the BBC’s content on iPlayer is only licensed for the UK, so if their site detects an IP address in the USA, it will geo block you from seeing the content.

If you have BlufVPN, you can just content to one of our servers within the UK. This means that your IP address will appear to BBC iPlayer as if it is in the UK, and you will have access to all of the BBC content you want to watch.

Streams that flow like water with BlufVPN

In the world of wireless broadband, fibre and 5G, you shouldn’t have to wait for videos to load or have the dreaded spinning wheel of buffering stopping you from watching Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones or Keeping up with the Kardashians.

What if we told you that a lot of buffering is caused intentionally? That’s right - your ISP could be limiting your bandwidth to suit their needs, even if you’ve paid for an unlimited package.

Without using a VPN, your connection is subject to what is known as “bandwidth throttling” any time your Internet Service Provider feels like it, which means movies that stop and start and episodes of your favourite series which won’t even load.

Why do ISPs bandwidth throttle?

A lot of people who pay for limitless data packages from their ISP believe that they are not always getting value for money - and in many cases this can be because of bandwidth throttling.

Stream secure

Watch whatever you want to watch, safe in the knowledge that no one is snooping on you or tracking your habits. That means no more targeted ads, no more licensing restrictions and no limits on what you can stream.

There is one very simple solution to the pain of bandwidth throttling which also gets the best out of streaming on your connection - getting a VPN. Having a VPN prevents your ISP from seeing what you are looking at, and stops some of those key situations explained above from happening.

Because your connection has a private road of it’s own, directly from your devices to our servers and back again, it doesn’t need to go past your ISP. This means that not only can they not see what you’re doing, they can’t interfere with your connection at all.

Reasons why ISPs would want to bandwidth throttle their users:
Prioritise

that’s right, your ISP might be using your connection to force you towards the services that they want you to use. Does it always feel like your Netflix is incredibly slow compared to when you use Hulu? Maybe your ISP has shares in Hulu, so it’s in their interest for you to use it more. Many ISPs are also in the TV business, so check if they are associated to Sky, Amazon Prime, Youku, HBO, Verizon, Disney, Apple or their competitors.

Peak times

The internet gets more widespread usage at certain times of day. If your connection slows down at night, it is probably because more people are at home and online. Your ISP will then share their total bandwidth out more thinly, meaning your connection is slower and your streaming capability worse.

Connect

If your connection drops so slowly that you can barely load a webpage, it could be because your ISP has your bandwidth capped. They use this as a method of trying to force you into purchasing a more expensive plan, which may still be subject to bandwidth throttling.

Decide

ISPs don’t like it when too much data is exchanged with particular websites, so if you use the same streaming service to download a huge amount of content, or upload a lot to a friend using a P2P service, this can also lead to your ISP deciding that it’s time to put the brakes on your connection.
